Frequently Asked Questions

General

Yes! All the botanical elements inside your piece have come from live flora and have most likely been foraged by Liat in and around Melbourne; then painstakingly picked, dried and then preserved into wearable art.

Eco-resin jewellery is strong and durable but if dropped or knocked against a hard surface it can scratch or break. We recommend removing your precious piece before you:

1. Wash dishes/floors/kids/dogs

2. Do any gardening

3. Handle any chemicals including hand sanitisers, nail polish/remover, sunscreen, soaps and cosmetics. Some chemicals can degrade the resin.

4. Please don't use any antiseptic gels while wearing resin rings.  The high alcohol content will affect the resin and degrade it over time.

We recommend removing the jewellery prior to swimming and showering, avoiding prolonged exposure to sunlight (sunlight may fade the florals). To clean just wipe with a soft cloth and polish with a little oil.

Warning: Please do not submerge your jewellery pieces in water. Resin is only water resistant, not waterproof. So please remember to remove your jewellery before showers, swimming, washing up etc.

Easy! Just give it a rub with some oil and wipe with a soft cloth.

Just send Liat an email with your issue (including a photo is always helpful) and you will receive further instructions on how to submit your piece for repair.

Bridal bouquet preservation

At the moment I only take two bridal bouquet bookings a month to make sure I have enough time to give each bride the creative dedication required.

Bookings can be made up to 12 months ahead.

Please understand that last minute bookings can only be accommodated if someone has cancelled.

To book a spot with me, please email me at hello@littlehurricaneco.com with your details and wedding date. I will then send you an invoice for $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot.

Each flower is different, some take 3 days to dry others can take 3-4 weeks. I can work with most flowers, some dry better than others.

When choosing the pieces for your custom order please keep in mind that small earrings will only accommodate tiny petal pieces of your flowers.

When thinking of your bridal bouquet I recommend including small/tiny flowers (as well as the large ones) and foliage as they will work beautifully in both small jewellery pieces as well as the large flower squares. My favourites are rice flowers (Ozothamnus diosmifolius), Queen Anne's Lace and Thryptomene to name a few.

I only dry as many flowers as I require to make the pieces that you order.

The whole process from start to finish take can take 8-12 weeks depending on the flowers and the pieces ordered.

Preserving the flowers can take 4-6 weeks. I use several methods to dry the flowers.

Once the flowers are dry the next stage is designing the pieces you ordered with the preserved flowers.

Some pieces require many layers of resin and each layer takes 24hrs to set and then 7 days to cure before it is complete.
